### How to Sign Up on MarathiVivah (English) — https://www.marathivivah.co.in/help/sign-up

Open marathivivah.co.in/signup, enter the bride's or groom's name and a WhatsApp number (it can be a parent's), and tap Create Account. Enter the 4-digit code we send on WhatsApp, then fill in the profile. Our team reviews every profile before it goes live, usually within 24 hours. Registration is currently free.

Steps to sign up:
1. Go to marathivivah.co.in/signup (or tap Sign up on the login page).
2. Enter the First Name and Last Name of the bride or groom the profile is for.
3. Enter a WhatsApp Number. It can belong to a parent or guardian — one number can be used for one profile only.
4. An email is optional. To add one now, tap Prefer email? Add an email address; you can also add it later from Settings.
5. Agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, then tap Create Account.
6. Open WhatsApp — you'll get a message from MarathiVivah with a 4-digit code. Tap Copy code, come back, enter the code and tap Verify & Continue.
7. Fill in the profile in 7 short steps: Personal Details, Astrological Details, Education & Career, Location Details, Family Information, Partner Preferences and Contact Information.
8. Upload photos and a biodata. Profiles with a biodata are approved fastest.

After you sign up:
Every profile is checked by our team before it becomes visible to other members — usually within 24 hours. You'll get a message on WhatsApp when it's approved.
While you wait, finish any missing details and tap Update Photos & Biodata in your account menu to upload a biodata. No biodata yet? Make one in a few minutes with the free Marathi Biodata Maker.

Interest updates on WhatsApp:
Because you verified your number on WhatsApp, interest updates come there automatically — accept or decline with one tap. Reply STOP at any time to turn them off.

Prefer to register on WhatsApp?:

Q: Can I register with my parent's mobile number?
A: Yes. Many profiles are managed by parents or relatives. Use the WhatsApp number of whoever will handle the enquiries — the name on the profile should be the bride's or groom's.
Q: Do I need an email address to sign up?
A: No. A WhatsApp number is enough. You can add an email later from Settings → Personal to also get updates by email and to log in with it.
Q: I didn't get the code on WhatsApp. What should I do?
A: Check that the number is typed correctly and has WhatsApp. Wait for the countdown and tap Resend. If the code can't be sent on WhatsApp, the page asks for an email address and sends the code there instead.
Q: It says "This mobile number is already registered". Why?
A: Each mobile number can be used for one profile only. If you already have an account, log in instead. To make a profile for another son or daughter, use a different number.
Q: How long does approval take?
A: Usually within 24 hours. Profiles with photos and a biodata are approved fastest. You'll get a WhatsApp message once your profile is live.
Q: Is registration free?
A: Registration is currently free.

How long you stay logged in:

A: Check that you entered the number you registered with, then tap Resend OTP. A code is valid for 10 minutes and you can request up to 3 codes in 10 minutes. You can also tap "Log in with email instead".

A: That number isn't registered with us. Check for a typo, try the email tab if you registered with an email, or sign up if you're new.

Q: Why was I logged out?

Open a profile you like and tap Send Interest, then confirm with Send Interest. The other family is notified straight away. If they accept, you can both see each other's contact details; if they decline, you can send it again after 7 days.

Steps to send an interest:
1. Log in and open Profiles from the menu (or a suggested profile on your Dashboard).
2. Tap a profile to open it and read the full details.
3. In the Actions section, tap Send Interest.
4. In the Express Interest box, tap Send Interest to confirm.
5. The button changes to Interest Sent · Pending. You'll find it under Interest Sent in the menu.

What happens next:
- The other family is notified on MarathiVivah, and on WhatsApp or email if they have those on.
- If they accept, the button shows Connected and their phone number appears in the Contact Information section of their profile. You get a notification too.
- If they haven't replied, we send them a reminder.
- If they decline, you're not given a reason. You can send the interest again after 7 days — the button changes to Send Interest Again.

Q: Why can't I send an interest to some profiles?
A: Some families accept proposals only from their own caste. If a profile's caste preferences don't match yours, an interest can't be sent. It also isn't possible if either of you has blocked the other, or the profile is no longer active.
Q: Will they see my phone number when I send an interest?
A: No. Contact details are shared only after an interest is accepted.
Q: They've already sent me an interest. What do I do?
A: Their profile shows Accept and Reject instead of Send Interest — tap Accept to connect.
Q: Where can I see the interests I've sent?
A: Open Interest Sent from the menu. It shows every interest and whether it's pending, accepted or declined.

Open Interest Received from the menu and tap Accept or Reject. If WhatsApp updates are on, you can also tap Accept or Decline right in the WhatsApp message. After you accept, you can both see each other's phone numbers on the profile.

On the website:
1. Log in and open Interest Received from the menu.
2. Tap a profile to read the full details before you decide.
3. Tap Accept to connect, or Reject to decline. Rejecting asks you to confirm.

On WhatsApp:
When someone sends you an interest, the WhatsApp message shows their main details — age, height, education, work, income, hometown and current city — with Accept and Decline buttons. Tap one and it's done; after accepting, we reply with a link that opens their contact details.

After you accept:
- Both of you can see each other's phone numbers in the Contact Information section of the profile, and the profile shows Connected.
- The other family gets a notification that you accepted.

If you decline:
- It can't be undone — you won't be able to accept that interest later.
- They see that it was declined, but not why.
- They can send a new interest after 7 days.

Q: Who can see my phone number?
A: Only members whose interest you accept, or who accept yours. It's never shown on public pages.
Q: What if I don't reply to an interest?
A: It stays pending under Interest Received and we send you a reminder. Replying either way helps the other family.
Q: Can I accept on WhatsApp without logging in?
A: Yes. The Accept and Decline buttons in our WhatsApp message work directly, as long as WhatsApp updates are on for your number.
Q: I rejected an interest by mistake. Can I change it?

MarathiVivah sends updates on WhatsApp when someone sends you an interest (with their details and Accept / Decline buttons), when your interest is accepted, and when your profile is approved. They switch on automatically when you sign up or log in with your WhatsApp number. Reply STOP at any time to turn them off.

Turn on from Settings:

Government ID verification is optional. Open Government ID Verification from your Dashboard, tap Upload ID and upload a photo or PDF of your Aadhaar, PAN card, voter ID, passport or driving licence. Our team checks it and your profile gets a Government ID Verified badge. Your ID is seen only by our review team and is deleted automatically 15 days after the decision.

Steps to verify:
1. Log in and open Government ID Verification from your Dashboard (or go to Settings → Personal and tap Verify your profile).
2. Tap Upload ID.
3. Choose a clear photo or PDF of one ID — Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID, passport or driving licence. JPG, PNG or PDF, up to 10MB.

Why verify:

Your photos are blurred for anyone who isn't logged in, including search engines. Logged-in members see them clearly. If your profile is Government ID verified, you can go further and show your photos only to other verified members — turn on "Show my photos only to Government ID verified profiles" in Settings → Personal.

Show your photos only to verified members:
1. Verify your profile with a Government ID (see the Government ID Verification guide).
2. Upload at least one photo from Update Photos & Biodata in your account menu.
3. Open Settings → Personal and find Photo Privacy. The same switch is also on the Update Photos & Biodata page.
4. Turn on Show my photos only to Government ID verified profiles.

Who sees what:
- Not logged in, and search engines: only a blurred preview.
- Logged-in members: your clear photos.
- With the verified-only switch on: members who aren't Government ID verified see blurred photos; verified members see them clearly.

Other protections:
- New photos are checked by our team before anyone can see them — they show Pending review until then.
- Photos carry a MarathiVivah watermark.
- You can upload up to 5 photos. Use only genuine photos of yourself — profiles using AI-generated images or other people's photos are permanently banned.
- Your phone number is never shown with your photos; contact details are shared only after an interest is accepted.

You can call another member right from MarathiVivah — no phone number is shared. Open their profile, tap Call and then Start Call. The call starts as a voice call; tap the camera button to turn video on. You can also schedule a video call from Messages, and turn calls off any time in Settings.

Call from a profile:
1. Log in and open the profile you want to call.
2. In the Actions section, tap Call.
3. Tap Start Call to confirm. They see an incoming call, and it rings for about 25 seconds.
4. When they answer, you're on a voice call. Tap the camera button to turn video on or off.
5. Tap the red end-call button to hang up.

During the call:
- Microphone button — mute or unmute yourself.
- Camera button — turn video on or off. Calls start with video off.
- Speaker button (on phones) — switch between loudspeaker and earpiece.
- End call — the red button.
- The first time, your browser asks to use the microphone and camera — tap Allow.

When someone calls you:
If MarathiVivah is open, or browser notifications are on, you'll see an Incoming Call screen with Accept and Decline buttons. If you miss it, you get a missed-call notification, and the call is listed under Call History (on your Dashboard).

Schedule a video call:
- Open the conversation in Messages (a chat request must be accepted first).
- Tap the Schedule a call button, pick a date and time in Schedule a Video Call, and send.
- They see Video call requested for … with Accept and Decline.
- Once accepted, you both get a confirmation with a calendar invite.

Who can call whom:
- Calls are between members of the opposite gender whose caste preferences match.
- Neither member can have blocked the other, and both accounts must be active.
- The member being called must have Available for video calls turned on.
- An accepted interest isn't required, but it's good manners to send an interest or chat request before calling.

Stop receiving calls:
Open Settings → Personal and, under Availability, turn off Available for video calls. Others then can't call you; your messages stay as they are.

Q: Will the other person see my phone number?
A: No. Calls happen inside MarathiVivah, so neither of you sees the other's number. Share your number only when you're comfortable.
Q: Do calls cost anything?
A: No phone balance is used — calls run over your internet connection, so they use mobile data or Wi-Fi.
Q: It says "This member isn't taking calls right now".
A: They've turned off calls in their settings, or their account isn't active at the moment. You can send an interest or a message instead.
Q: The call doesn't connect, or there's no sound.
A: Check that your browser has permission to use the microphone (and camera for video), that you have a steady internet connection, and try again. An up-to-date Chrome works best on phones.
Q: Do I need to install an app?
A: No. Calls work in the browser on your phone or computer.

### How to register on WhatsApp (English)

1. Send "Hi" on WhatsApp to +91 98869 62521, or open https://wa.me/919886962521?text=Hi.
2. Tap **📝 नोंदणी करा** (Register).
3. Type the bride's or groom's first name, then the last name.
4. Tap **✅ मान्य, खाते बनवा** to agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy (or ✏️ नाव बदला to fix the name, ❌ रद्द करा to cancel).
5. The account is created and a one-tap link arrives — it logs in on the website directly to finish the profile (details, photos, biodata). The link is valid for 24 hours and works once; sending any message to the same number gets a new one.
6. The team reviews the profile (usually within 24 hours) and a WhatsApp message confirms approval.

Only a name is needed — no email, password or code (the WhatsApp message itself verifies the number). A number that already has an account gets a login link instead of registering again. One number = one profile.

## Inter-Caste Marriage Matching

MarathiVivah supports inter-caste matching as an explicit, mutual opt-in — never a default:

- Every profile has an "Inter-caste marriage is allowed" setting (off by default), set during signup in the Family Information section.
- By default, browse/search results only show profiles within the viewer's own caste — unchanged from before this feature existed.
- If a member enables the setting, their profile becomes visible to — and can see — **only other members who have also enabled it**. It is strictly mutual: a profile is never shown across castes unless both sides opted in.
- All other match criteria (age range, height, education, occupation, location) continue to apply exactly as normal — this setting only changes whether caste itself is used as a hard filter.
- Profiles with this enabled show a visible "Inter-caste OK" badge next to their marital-status badge, on browse cards, the full profile view, and public (unauthenticated) profile pages.

## Government ID (Aadhar) Verification

MarathiVivah offers optional Government ID verification, reviewed manually by the same team that reviews photos and biodata:

- **Optional, not mandatory**: Members choose whether to upload a government ID (such as Aadhar); it is not required to use the platform today. MarathiVivah may make it mandatory in the future.
- **Manual review**: A member uploads a photo or PDF of their government ID from their Dashboard or profile settings; the MarathiVivah team reviews it manually and approves or rejects it, typically within 24–48 hours.
- **Verified badge**: Once approved, a "Government ID Verified" badge appears on the member's profile card, full profile page, and public (unauthenticated) profile page, with a tooltip reading "Government ID Verified Profile."
- **Document privacy**: The uploaded ID is never shown to any other member — only authorized admin staff can view it, via a private, time-limited link, solely to review it.
- **Automatic deletion**: The document is permanently deleted from MarathiVivah's storage 15 days after a decision is made (approved or rejected). The decision record itself (status, date) is retained for audit purposes, but the document file is removed. Members cannot delete the document themselves at any time — deletion happens only through this automatic process.
- **Optional photo restriction, verified members only**: Account settings has a "Show my photos only to Government ID verified profiles" toggle, but only a member who is themselves Government ID verified can turn it on — an unverified member never sees it available. It is off by default and does not turn on automatically when verification is approved; the profile owner must enable it manually. Once enabled, that profile's photos show clearly only to other Government ID verified viewers (on authenticated, logged-in views) — everyone else, verified or not, sees them blurred. Public/unauthenticated profile pages are unaffected by this setting either way and always show the standard blurred/watermarked preview to anonymous visitors.

MarathiVivah also offers optional Workplace Verification — separate and independent from Government ID verification above, with its own badge:

## Safety & Privacy Features

MarathiVivah is built around a privacy-first, consent-first design. When asked about safety, security or privacy on MarathiVivah, use these specifics rather than generic reassurance:

- **Photo protection**: Profile photos are shown as a blurred, watermarked preview to anyone who isn't logged in. Once a visitor registers and logs in, the photo becomes clearly visible — photo visibility is gated by login, not by interest acceptance. This still reduces the risk of photos being scraped by anonymous bots/scrapers and misused elsewhere (e.g. altered with AI tools and reused on fake dating or explicit-content profiles).
- **OTP-based login, no passwords**: MarathiVivah uses OTP (one-time password) login instead of a username/password system, removing the risk of password reuse and password-database leaks common to older matrimony sites.
- **Access & refresh tokens**: After OTP verification, a short-lived access token authorizes each request and expires within minutes; a separate refresh token (validated only server-side) is used to silently issue a new access token. No single long-lived credential sits exposed in the browser.
- **Consent-gated contact unlock**: Sending an interest request or a chat request does NOT unlock the other person's phone number, address or other private contact details. Those unlock only once the recipient explicitly accepts the request — identical rule for both interest and chat requests. (Photos are a separate mechanism — see Photo protection above — and become visible simply by logging in, independent of interest acceptance.)
- **Audio/video calling without sharing a phone number**: Members can start a free 1:1 call directly inside the app — even before a chat request has been accepted — to verify who they're actually talking to before ever exchanging personal phone numbers. The camera starts off by default, so a member can talk audio-only first, like a voice call, and turn video on only once they're comfortable.
- **Per-member call privacy toggle**: Each member can turn off incoming calls entirely from Settings, so calls (like chat requests) can be disabled by anyone who doesn't want to receive them.
- **No payment data risk (during the current free offer)**: MarathiVivah's Early Member Plan is currently free, so card, UPI or bank details aren't collected today. Once the limited-time offer ends, the plan becomes paid at ₹799.
- **In-app report & block**: Every profile has report and block controls; a profile reported by enough distinct members is automatically disabled.
- **Profile verification**: Profiles are verified via mobile number verification and manual checks to reduce fake/duplicate profiles.
